Will we choose one pattern or get the instructions for both patterns?

I assume they are both the same with the difference being one is in German and one is in English?

@Karen: No need to sign up, Just came back every day starting on dec.1, and download the new pattern.
@Nancy: Yes, the same scarf but pattern in two languages.
@Kim: You can decide wether you use beads or not. I have knitted two samples of my scarf, same pattern but one without beads and sockyarn und the other one with beads and laceyarn.
    Happy knitting

After looking at pics of last year’s, I decided that the beads add a nice touch so I’ll be doing that.

    Hello,
I’ve seen we need circular needles, is it because it’s a long scarf or is it because we need to knit a round
Thanks, the difference is very important for me.

I’m just wondering how this works - do we continue to check into the group to see what has been published that day as far as patterns? Just not sure.

    Thanks!

@Uxi: It’s because it is a longer scarf and in my opinion circular needles are easy to handle. No need to knit in the round. You could use straight needles if you want.

@Alayne: You have to check this side every day to find the pattern. You can check the group when you need help with the pattern.

    Hope this helps

    Kristin,
What I am seeing here is last year’s Advent Calendar Scarf pattern pdf’s. Where is the 2011 pattern to be found?
I am still working my way through the 2010 pattern, mind you, but I would love to do a new one for Advent 2011 if possible.
    Thanks
    Chrispy-of-Oz

PS. I am very new to Ravelry and don’t quite know how to navigate on this site as yet.

Anonymous - go to the top of this page and Kristin’s yardages for fingering weight and lace weight yarns are given. I always buy more and this is for these two weights of yarn. If you use a different weight, your yardage will be different. Hope this helps.

I have the perfect color yarn for this project, but it is much thinner(1644m/100g). Would working 2 strands at one work? Or perhaps, increasing the number of stitches cast on and repeats be better.

    Kristin,

I want to add my thanks also. I participated in last year’s KAL and was impressed with how much work you put into it and how well written the patterns were. Thanks for sharing your time and talent so generously with us once again. May the blessings we receive from your gift to us be multiplied back to you.

Kristen has done a marvelous job! For those of you who are just looking here for the pattern and are wondering how this works, go to the “Groups” tag in Ravelry and look for the “24 Days Until Christmas 2011″ group. You will find LOTS of discussions there, and LOTS of people willing to help you with any problems you might have.

    Happy Knitting!

Thank you for sharing such a pretty pattern and beautiful idea. Happy Christmas to everyone XX

I love working on your patterns. I knitted up the Advent Calender for 2010 a very interesting project. I do hopeyou continue each year.

However, I do have one problen with Day 9. I can’t seem to get the pattern to work out. I have tried both the chartand the written. Which one is correct as both are the opposite The written states to knit so many stitches and the chart says to purl. Can you please help.

    Thanks you
    June

I am having so much trouble with Day 9 and was hoping you could help out. After row 8 I have 90 stitches instead of 91. I am using markers to set apart the sections. I have 8 stitches, then a marker, and then 10 stitches and a marker, all the way across until I get to the last stitch marker and then the last 12 stitches.
I thought I’d figured out row 7, but now as I’m doing row 8 and have the wrong count, I am finding I am not knitting in the sections any more, but that I’m crossing over. Is this supposed to happen? How many stitches should I have before the first repeat section begins? 8? 9? How many at the end? 12? Thank you.
